KEY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical project lead for high-speed optical transmitter and receiver development projects.
Guide the overall development of the transmitters for next-generation optical transceivers, working closely with mechanical, RF design, and process engineers.
Perform optical simulation and tolerance analysis.
Conduct static and dynamic opto-electronic measurements.
Specify the development/production test requirements.
Work closely with both internal and external laser, modulator, and photodiode component suppliers.
Product types to be developed are based on directly modulated lasers (DFB, DBR, …), EMLs, Mach –Zehnder modulators, tunable lasers etc.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability in the following areas:
Familiarity with optical design, integration with optical devices, and testing.
Strong background in opto-electronics. Direct experience with device characterization of semiconductor lasers. Familiar with fiber transmission and RF electronics for high-speed communication. Previous work on high-speed transceiver or component development.
Experience with moving a product through new-product introduction phases, taking the lifecycle of a product from early concept phase into volume production.
Packaging/Mechanical/Electrical design experience for opto-electronics.
Communication skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The candidate will be expected to lead the development of a new product.
Ability to travel. The candidate will be expected to do some amount of travel within the US, as well as to Asia and Europe.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS (include Education, Skills & Experience):
MS /Ph.D. in Electrical engineering / Physics / Optics or equivalent.
5+ years work experience in related field (development for electrical/optical component)
