Software Engineer
The SpringSource Engineering team is seeking a motivated, experienced Software Engineer to design an application framework for the In this role, the candidate will design, develop, test, and enhance our server product line:

Engineering Experience and Skills
Experience
• BS/CS, MS./CS or equivalent plus:
• 10+ years of general software development experience.
• 5+ years experience in product specification.
• 5+ years relevant Java-based system software industry experience (e.g., user of application infrastructure software and/or developer on common application server: Tomcat, Weblogic).
Skills
• Able to design complex scenarios based on new requirements and prior product knowledge.
• Has a complete understanding of full production environment elements: Load Balancers, Databases, Firewalls, Security. Thorough understanding of production level analysis tools and ability at analyze the data produced.
• The ability to integrate and apply knowledge gained from customer iteration across multiple development and testing methodologies.

Teamwork
• Effectively works as part of global internal QA and external QA community (e.g. open source, industry groups. )
• Able to collaborate with developers to find the most efficient path to a solution which is optimal for the project (i.e. they don't just back down and waste time to avoid confrontation)
• Able to be effective in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Provides direction to other team members; able to create System Test strategies and requirements for resources, testing, and tools.
• Has the ability to deliver presentations and talks to internal teams and customers.
• Uses sound judgment about escalations and tradeoffs between project resources, time, and quality; actively participates in process improvement and other activities which improve cross-product efficiency; sought by internal and external forums for their knowledge of deployable quality practices.
Communication Skills
• Effectively communicates across product/component teams to escalate and resolve issues.
• Ability to communicate complex issues in writing and to distributed team members.
• Ability to know in advance what supporting data will be needed to troubleshoot issues.
• Acts as an advocate for product quality (e.g. when tradeoffs are being considered with other project priorities).
