Overview:

This Senior Product Manager (PM) will provide input to product roadmap planning and influence engineering on technology investigation priorities based on tracking & understanding of hardware technology progression, market adoption, competitive landscape, silicon vendor solutions, etc. This PM will track and analyze key competitive devices, including key components to support product feature definition and tradeoff analysis. He/she will present technology trends, including competitive findings, at select forum(s). He/she will manage competitive device acquisition, centralize internal tear-down requests & 3rd party tear-down report subscription, manage & maintain competitive device spec, BOM cost database. He/she will work cross functionally with stakeholders in engineering, hardware & software product management, Operations, Finance, Sales, and Legal.


Duties/Responsibilities:
• Track, investigate key hardware technologies (e.g. CDMA, WiMAX, NFC, etc.), ecosystem progression, competitive landscape with the team that could lead to proposing new or improved product features and possibly new business opportunities for Palm
• Competitive device / component tracking & analysis to help drive product definition & engineering investigation work
• Present HW technology trends & competitive findings
• Manage and maintain competitive device spec, BOM cost database
• Competitive device acquisition
• Manage 3rd party tear-down reports & periodically publish key competitive device BOM summary

Qualifications:
• Strong understanding of the mobile device component technologies, especially wireless technologies
• Technology savvy with business acumen
• Creative competitive intelligence gathering and strong competitive analysis skills
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to establish cross-functional teamwork
• Demonstrable written, verbal and presentation skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to go deep into necessary details without losing high-level, big pictures
• The ideal candidate will have 8 or more years of high-tech product management experience, including taking products from concept to market

Education:
• BS in Engineering is required. MBA or advanced degree is a plus

Travel:
• Minimal travel required
